Stage
The stage went up today, and I like it. Based as much as possible on Stratford – pretentious or what!
GE
Revising script (typos etc, not major), working on recordings and cues, staging up tomorrow, then into blocking. Have put this off this year to enable greater autonomy, transfer ownership etc.. Will be a tight call but am confident. Dancers – Pip’s People (corny i know but it works0 – look to be a strong card, plus high-rated individual talent running to some depth (all my humble opinion) and we should have a show!
Expectations . . .
. . . have largely been realised as we approach the end of phase one rehearsals. Phase two is intense characterisation, encouraging self-confidence (not too much – fine line), movement and heads-up script attack! We will see.
Been through a down period, now on the up.
In place: set, busker (live music), recordings, make-up, props.
Reheasals have
started for GE. The first was last Friday and went well in the format of 4 groups sharing one space, creating energy, vibrancy and working above the neighbouring groups. This works well for initial practices but later, peace will be required.
Have, today, added some more detail to the site and logged it onto twitter, so it is now a touch thicker than skin.
more to come . . .
Great Expectations
This adaptation will be ready for January. I am currently re-writing having recently cast, I find that’s the best way round. It’s set in the 1960s and should be a lot of fun with a dance troupe – think Pip’s People – and a bit of the old Carnaby London!
Like all my plays, it may be adapted further for performance elsewhere, either by me or by whoever buys the rights.
